Celebrating 25 years of The Undertaker, WWE Survivor Series 2015 brings a war against Bray Wyatt, a championship tournament, and more

WWE Survivor Series 2015 is here! This is the 29th installment in what’s been known as one of WWE’s “Big Four” PPV shows. Since its inception in 1987, the PPV has almost always been based around giving us at least one elimination tag-team match for the sake of tradition. It used to be that the show was entirely four-on-four or five-on-five matches, but over time, they dropped the idea in exchange for more high-profile singles matches.

This year’s show is being built as a celebration of the Undertaker’s 25 year anniversary in the company. On November 22, 1990, Survivor Series featured the very first on-air appearance of the Undertaker as a mystery partner for Ted Dibiase’s Million Dollar Team. Led to the ring by Brother Love, Undertaker effortlessly made short work of Koko B. Ware and eliminated him. Then he one-sidedly battled the late Dusty Rhodes to the back while they were both counted out.
It’s less than two weeks out, but here’s what we know and what we can figure from the upcoming show. We'll update this with results as the night goes on, too.
WWE Survivor Series 2015 Match Card

Here’s what’s totally official, although the card is subject to change, even at the last minute.
Tournament to Determine WWE World Heavyweight Champion

This one was supposed to be Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, but an unfortunate injury to Rollins has taken him out of action for the next several months. Instead, WWE will hold a tournament to determine who the next WWE World Heavyweight Champion will be.
Since losing at WrestleMania, Reigns has had only one match for the title, but it was a Fatal Four Way. Between that and his dialogue with Triple H on the latest edition of Raw, expect him to be a major player (if not the outright winner) of the tournament that will likely define WWE Survivor Series 2015.
As it is right now, here are the brackets:

Survivor Series will give us the semis and the finals. Here are our semis:

Roman Reigns vs. Alberto Del Rio

On paper, Del Rio should be a favorite going into this. After all, at Hell in a Cell, he cleanly defeated John Cena and stole his US title. Too bad he doesn't have a chance as this is Roman's match to win. Even if Roman is somehow screwed out of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at this show, he's a lock for the finals. Roman will continue his rise as the much-needed top face of the company while Del Rio will simply return to failing to hide his disgust at this stupid MexAmerican angle he's stuck in.

Dean Ambrose vs. Kevin Owens

While Roman and Del Rio are put together through the randomness of tournament brackets, Ambrose and Owens at least have a recent history. Ambrose pinned KO on Raw during a five-on-five elimination match. They later had a singles match on Smackdown for the United States Championship, but Owens tricked the referee into disqualifying Ambrose.
This match is anyone's game, but Owens is the more likely winner. The Shield BFFs would make for one hell of a tournament finals, but I think they're going to hold off on that match for a little while longer.

Undertaker and Kane vs. The Wyatt Family

At the end of Hell in a Cell, the Undertaker lost a hard-fought match against Brock Lesnar. The fans cheered him on, thanking him for his years of wrestling. Then fellow spooky guy Bray Wyatt appeared. Sure, the two of them tangled at this year’s WrestleMania, but that was when Wyatt was on his own. Now he’s got a full house, planked by Luke Harper, Erick Rowan, and Braun Strowman. The four of them easily decimated Undertaker and dragged his carcass away to end the show.
The next night on Raw, Wyatt bragged about what they did in order to draw out the Demon Kane. Kane tried to fight off the Wyatt Family, but he was also succumbed to their numbers. Kane was dragged away by the cultist hillbillies.
In the weeks that followed, Bray bragged about eating the Undertaker and Kane's souls and now having their powers. Regardless, the Brothers of Destruction returned and took out the entire Wyatt Family.
Now Wyatt has laid down the gauntlet. At Survivor Series, Undertaker and Kane will face two members of the Wyatt Family. You can count on the other two to hang around, more or less making it a big handicap match. Not that it means too much considering the Brothers of Destruction already decimated them, but whatevs.

Charlotte (C) vs. Paige

After defeating Nikki Bella at Night of Champions, Charlotte celebrated her win, only for Paige to go on an angry rant where she turned on her friends. Buuuuut since Hell in a Cell was about Nikki getting her rematch, they needed to spread out this heel turn a little. Natalya Neidhart quickly replaced Paige as Charlotte and Becky Lynch’s partner and Paige got annoyed. After a brief feud with Natty, Paige apologized for her actions and insisted that she was trying to become a better person and redeem herself. Coincidentally, Natalya was found beaten up backstage a few minutes later. Why, that’s not suspicious at all!
Paige continued to work her way back into Charlotte and Becky’s good graces, but after the three of them lost a six-woman tag on Raw, Paige beat down her two partners. Paige earned her title shot via stealing a win during a Fatal Four Way against Brie Bella, Becky Lynch, and Sasha Banks. Since then, she's been tormenting Becky to mess with Charlotte, while referring to the current champ as "Baby Flair."
Then she made fun of Charlotte's dead brother. It was awkward.

Dolph Ziggler vs Tyler Breeze

Ziggler and Breeze have been building up their rivalry, but this seems like a candidate for a kickoff match.

Granted, we've had the tournament keeping us busy, but there's been no mention of there being a traditional Survivor Series elimination tag match yet. Are they kidding? The show is about to happen!
There are several feuds brewing, at least. The last Raw made it seem like there should be a match featuring Ryback and the Usos vs. the New Day with additional partners added to beef it up. Really, it's just going to be midcarders who have nothing else to do.
But for real, we do kind of need at least one elimination tag match announced. We've already had two on TV just for the sake of hype!
